Cosentino, the global leader in the production and distribution of architectural surfaces, and Italian furniture manufacturer Riva 1920 together introduce DeKauri, a modern bathroom credenza, designed in collaboration with renowned architect and designer Daniel Germani. DeKauri redefines innovation and clever design featuring ancient wood, aged and preserved in peatlands for thousands of years. “DeKauri transforms incredibly utilitarian parts of the bath into something incredibly beautiful. It helps take away the feeling of being in a bathroom. I could very easily see this in a master suite, a power room, or even in an open-concept bedroom where the sleeping space and bath flow into one another,” says Germani.
A perfect marriage of traditional and contemporary, old and new. The grains of this beautiful Kauri wood are rich with history and predate more than what we can comprehend as prehistoric. The wood was discovered in Oakland, New Zealand perfectly preserved and sealed off from damaging elements like humidity, explains Maurizio Riva, from Riva 1920. Available in two versions, DeKauri can be showcased as a monochromatic piece or a multi-colored statement that emphasizes the geometric slabs pieced together to create grandeur.
