LODGING is an online and print publication that tackles current news relevant in the hospitality business. Their team spoke to Juniper’s founder and owner, Shant Madjarian, to discuss the practical use of dual-purpose lighting.
Shant shared his in-depth insight of how LED’s can become even more efficient lighting solutions when designed thoughtfully. Dual-purpose lighting exhibits its cost-effectiveness by functioning both as a light source and decorative piece, such as The Wally that adorned Moxy Hotel Times Square‘s hallways. This playful sign lighting cuts costs as it can also be customized as a room indicator with vinyl decals. In turn, this hallway sign lighting reduces clutter because it cancels other elements, like traditional handle cards when using The Wally as a ‘Do Not Disturb’ indicator for hotel rooms.
Dual-purpose lighting becomes more convenient when it is intended to be portable. Our dimmable M Lamp with a rotatable head, designed by David Irwin, features a slim handle to tastefully carry the aluminum modern lamp. We devised a long-lasting battery life for the M Lamp so users can easily bring it outside or move it in other spaces they wish to use it in.
