Designed by the Design Director for Studio Gaia, Junho Choi worked with the restaurant owners to create a new dining experience; one with no frills or trends, but one focused on authenticity, honesty, and flavor. The space is essentially stripped bare to push the focus to their culinary creations. With cement floors and walls, wooden ceilings and accent walls offer warmth to complement the space. Within the space is a glass accent wall with dry-erase figure drawings that add an artful focus. Each wooden table and chair set features an induction stovetop for guests to immerse themselves in a unique experience of Korean cuisine.
Above the seating area is a row of THIN Suspensions in Satin Nickel to elongate the space. Its 1/2-inch profile keeps the aesthetic of the space modest, while offering a nod to modern industrial design in a luxurious way. Juniper’s THIN Lighting System offers magnetic light segments for simple installation and 360° rotatable light after installation.
To mark the restaurant’s bathrooms, On has installed our Wally in Glossy White finish with custom restroom decals. Wally’s are best used as an indicator light to mark occupancy, hotel room numbers, and more.
The restaurant, located on Madison Avenue in New York, is the second of the owner’s restaurant portfolio. Her Name Is Han, focused on Korean hot pots, noodles, and BBQ, is located on E31st Street.
