Homepolish Magazine Highlights NYC Loft with Juniper THIN Floor Lamp

Homepolish Magazine is an online publication by Homepolish, featuring luxurious projects designed by their professional interior designers. They focus mainly on high-end residential spaces and commercial clients such as Venmo, Rent the Runway, and Giphy. Homepolish designer Jae Joo designed a 4,000-square-foot loft in the Flatiron neighborhood of New York City and used our minimal THIN Floor Lamp in the living room.

About the Loft

Owned by a young real-estate developer, two units were combined to build and design 4 bedrooms, in preparation for a new chapter in his life, with his girlfriend moving in.

The Design Approach

Joo had the goal to create a cohesive space out of the combined lofts. However, she treated the project as two blank canvases to avoid any limitations. Finding interior elements to embellish the loft was based on continuous research, both by Joo and the owner. It was completed with mutual collaboration, resulting in a minimal residential space.

The Designers

Furniture pieces and light fixtures surrounding the space were sourced from varying designers. An open space with a sectional sofa from Restoration Hardware creates a relaxing den for lounging. It can be enclosed using sliding doors, following the outline on the floor, to transform it into a private workspace.

Vintage chairs and ottomans were thrifted from eBay and reupholstered with Pierre Frey Teddy Mohair to install a mid-century modern lounge set:

“I found those on eBay late at night and they were in a pretty scary condition even in the photos. I was hesitant to show them to my clients but they kind of loved it. Now they feel and look amazing.” – Homepolish Designer Jae Joo

Being the owner’s favorite designer, furniture pieces by Eames are found throughout the space. They opted to reupholster a modern recliner by Eames to be at par with the pops of cerulean blue splashed across the space. It is complemented with a wooden bed frame by Design Within Reach to establish a warm, inviting space.

The Minimal Floor Lamp

The THIN Floor Lamp was designed by Peter Bristol for Juniper. It features a central hinge that allows the minimal floor lamp’s arm to extend and contract. A ball joint is found at the THIN Floor Lamp’s cast iron base to swivel its body in any direction for a comfortable lighting experience. Lastly, the brass lamp features a dimming knob at the tip of the arm for lighting adjustability.
