Their tour begins with a walk-through of our assembly area, where we hand-assemble all of our lighting designs. The 5,000 square foot facility holds our machinery, assembly, inventory, quality control, and packing areas, as well as a full office space and showroom.
Shant Madjarian reflects on the beginnings of Juniper. Beginning at a young age in his father’s manufacturing shop in Montreal, Shant came to New York as a natural entrepreneur. At first, he focused his efforts in economics, although eventually felt the need to own his own business. Revisiting his lighting roots, he began Juniper as a fresh and modern interpretation of his father’s traditional lighting business, utilizing old-school methods, such as brass finishing, in a contemporary lighting collection.
Within architectural lighting, Juniper’s focus is system-based lighting, mostly within offices, coworking, and hospitality spaces worldwide. It is in these projects where Juniper thrives with custom options and the ability to implement its modern LED lighting systems throughout an entire space.
Shant Madjarian discusses the THIN Task Lamp, designed by Peter Bristol, as the start of the THIN System. The adjustable table lamp eventually translated into linear, geometric, and desk-mounted systems and continues to grow. As our collection grows, so does our team. Juniper has jumped to about 25 people in 2018, with a majority of women in administrative and assembly positions. With a worldwide reach in clientele, Juniper continues to expand to all corners of the globe.
